where is this shortened home page menu coming from?

I have a GP Premium site at GeneratePress.michianait.net. I'm trying to replicate an Astra Elementor site in GeneratePress and the block editor. To this end, I can't figure out where the shortened (4 links and a search icon) on the homepage is coming from. I want to show my primary menu instead.

Can you help?

Thanks

Mark

Hi Leo,

Yes, I see what you are talking about. However, when I view it, using Apple Safari, there is no white strip on that picture, but a faded out menu strip where you are seeing the blank header. Not sure why I am seeing a semi-transparent menu when you are seeing just a white area.

I just checked under Chrome and I am seeing the same thing.

Guess I don't know how to upload a screenshot

Hi there,

upload the screenshot to your WP Media Library, or another share drive, and provide us with the URL to that image.

Strange. That's not what I'm seeing at all:

Can you try clearing your browser cache first?

If that doesn't help, can you disable all plugins except GP Premium and GenerteBlocks first?

Let me know :)

Leo,
Yes, it is strange indeed. I cleared browser cache in both Safari and Chrome and tried it again with the same result (the menu showing). I did notice that if I zoom out, (with command - on the mac running Safari), that eventually both the Logo and the menu disappear.

Don't bother spending more time on it, Leo. I am just going to build a new site from scratch and see how it goes. There may be conflicting things going on.

Thanks

Mark

Leo,

I started over and created a site at hardyness20.michianait.net using GP Premium.

I think I have a better understand, but still am missing one point. If, in the customizer under menus, (under menu locations) if I select "Main" as the primary menu, then I get the three items - Home, Sample Page, About in the header. However, if I don't select any menu as the primary menu (leaving the choice as "Select menu") then I still get some menu links in the header, but this time, it is just Sample Page and About (there is no menu link for Home).

So my question is, when you don't select any menu for the Primary Menu location, what gets put up in the header? Is there some kind of default menu that shows up when you don't select any particular menu?

Thanks

Yup - WordPress adds a default menu if you don't select one. I believe the default menu displays all the pages you have created and published.
