Hi,
I bought the premium version thinking I’d be able to make the demo site active and replace with my content, but keep the images, but I don’t see the demo site as one of the options. That seems odd/misleading. Am I missing something?
Here is a link to what I’m looking for, https://i.imgur.com/rCVpm0M.png
In addition to the other templates I saw, I just assumed the one being advertised would be included (this is what you see when you search for themes through WordPress).
Thanks.
September 10, 2019 at 3:55 pm #1006228LeoStaffCustomer SupportHi there,
We actually don’t have that one in the site library but you can follow the tutorial here:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/replicating-the-screenshot/You can also start with Peak in our site library which is very similar:
https://gpsites.co/peak/Let me know if you need more info π
September 10, 2019 at 3:57 pm #1006231TomWhy is this not in the site library?
September 10, 2019 at 3:59 pm #1006237LeoStaffCustomer SupportNo specific reasons – it’s just a screenshot we made for WordPress.
Peak is really really similar though.
I’m happy to help you replicate that screenshot as well.
Let me know π
September 10, 2019 at 4:01 pm #1006238TomI’m going to try to follow your instructions for the demo site. It seems very odd to me that you guys created a demo site image for WordPress (which is what people see) that isn’t actually part of the package/Site Library that you sell.
September 10, 2019 at 4:04 pm #1006239LeoStaffCustomer SupportI would highly recommend starting with importing Peak which basically takes you 90% there:
https://gpsites.co/peak/I’ll mention this to our team as well.
Thanks π
September 10, 2019 at 4:08 pm #1006241TomI’ll start with Peak, where is the clipart for the demo site? This is a bit frustrating and very misleading.
September 10, 2019 at 4:16 pm #1006247TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperHi there,
That’s the theme screenshot, which is a simple example of what you can create in the free theme and Gutenberg – it’s not a full site, which is why it’s not in our library.
Here’s the site we built for the screenshot, so you can save the images if you’d like: https://tomusborne.com/gp-screenshot/
The icons are actually from our homepage here: https://generatepress.com
Sorry for the frustration! Let me know if you need help replicating anything there.
September 10, 2019 at 4:18 pm #1006248TomWhat would it take to get that site into the site library? I’m not a web guy, I literally wanted to use that site and just change out the words but keep everything else.
September 10, 2019 at 4:21 pm #1006250TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperWe would need to actually turn it into a full site. As of right now, it’s just an image with three columns, built in the block editor.
If you want a simple solution copy/paste solution, do this:
1. Create a new page and set the sidebars to “No Sidebar”.
2. Copy this:<!-- wp:image {"id":184,"align":"wide"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image alignwide"><img src="https://tomusborne.com/gp-screenshot/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/11/screenshot-header-4.png" alt="" class="wp-image-184"/></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:columns {"columns":3,"className":"column-container-padding"} --> <div class="wp-block-columns has-3-columns column-container-padding"><!-- wp:column --> <div class="wp-block-column"><!-- wp:image {"id":189,"align":"center","width":99,"height":100} --> <div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter is-resized"><img src="https://tomusborne.com/gp-screenshot/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/11/light.png" alt="" class="wp-image-189" width="99" height="100"/></figure></div> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3,"align":"center"} --> <h3 style="text-align:center"><strong>Who We Are</strong></h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"align":"center"} --> <p style="text-align:center">Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Aliquam rhoncus porttitor velit id efficitur. Duis eleifend iaculis eros, finibus commodo lacus euismod vitae.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --></div> <!-- /wp:column --> <!-- wp:column --> <div class="wp-block-column"><!-- wp:image {"id":191,"align":"center","width":102,"height":100} --> <div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter is-resized"><img src="https://tomusborne.com/gp-screenshot/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/11/security.png" alt="" class="wp-image-191" width="102" height="100"/></figure></div> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3,"align":"center"} --> <h3 style="text-align:center"><strong>What We Do</strong></h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"align":"center"} --> <p style="text-align:center">Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Aliquam rhoncus porttitor velit id efficitur. Duis eleifend iaculis eros, finibus commodo lacus euismod vitae.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --></div> <!-- /wp:column --> <!-- wp:column --> <div class="wp-block-column"><!-- wp:image {"id":192,"align":"center","width":106,"height":100} --> <div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter is-resized"><img src="https://tomusborne.com/gp-screenshot/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/11/page-builder.png" alt="" class="wp-image-192" width="106" height="100"/></figure></div> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3,"align":"center"} --> <h3 style="text-align:center"><strong>How We Do It</strong></h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"align":"center"} --> <p style="text-align:center">Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Aliquam rhoncus porttitor velit id efficitur. Duis eleifend iaculis eros, finibus commodo lacus euismod vitae.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --></div> <!-- /wp:column --></div> <!-- /wp:columns --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
3. Paste it into the block editor. It will build everything for you.
The rest of the site is just a few Customizer options, which we detail here: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/replicating-the-screenshot/
I agree that a simple site like this would be good in the library – I’ll see what I can do π
September 10, 2019 at 4:32 pm #1006253TomI clicked to add a New page, I don’t see how I can edit/add HTML. Also, not seeing the sidebar option you referenced. I agree, you should consider a simple page, clearly you can see I’m missing the ‘basics’ even with your guidance (thank you).
September 10, 2019 at 4:40 pm #1006256TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperThis might help: https://www.loom.com/share/45f11cb576dc4e96a88d3deb071bff1e

September 10, 2019 at 4:53 pm #1006268TomI appreciate all the help. Even with the quick video you made, I’m able to get the HTML into the ‘sample page’ but the default wordpress site still shows up and all the social links are not there and all the content of the site points to your site which I’d change to point elsewhere, but that defeats the purpose of buying the premium package. I really thought I could get the demo site as part of premium, that should be changed. If there are no plans to include that site then it should be removed as the thumbnail that is used in WordPress, very misleading.
Thanks again.
September 10, 2019 at 5:04 pm #1006270TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperIt’s actually never come up (adding it to the library). The theme screenshot is just for the free version and can be made in the free version using the instructions I linked to, while the site library is all premium options.
That being said, I do see the benefit, we’d just need to complete the site a little bit more than where it’s at. I definitely don’t want to mislead.
I could try to get something built and added this week if that works for you?
Let me know π
September 10, 2019 at 5:11 pm #1006271TomI’d like to see the site demo as an actual site that can be used, yes, but I don’t want to force anyone to create that, I’ll leave that decision up to you.
While trying to take advantage of the premium templates, I’m trying to activate Peak, which I did, but my first problem is that I can’t change the “Reach the Peak” section/image. I was going to try to use the image from the demo site in place of the black “Reach the Peak” section. I see other sections of the theme have a pencil/edit icon, but this section “Reach the Peak” doesn’t have an edit option.
This is another reason I was looking for a basic page.
Thanks.
