    Hello,
This is probably a stupid question, but I am fairly new to WordPress. I found this well-made theme but I can’t get the Swedish localization to work. After theme installation, I only find the file generatepress.pot in the theme’s language folder and nothing at all in the wordpress language folder (where you have all the twenty-xxx po and mo files).
I use Loco Translate to adapt some expressions, and this extension also informs me that there’s no language and the template file is generatepress.pot.
As far as I know, there’s a Swedish translation. So what do I do wrong? Any help in this matter is much appreciated.

    Hi there,

All translations are now supplied through WordPress.org.

You can find the Swedish translation here: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-themes/generatepress

It’s currently at 60%, once we can get it to 100% it will become available on your website.

If you’d like to contribute some translations, then I can request that you become an editor so you can approve those translations to speed up the process.

    Let me know πŸ™‚

    Thanks for your answers.
I was in a hurry so I made my own translation of the theme into Swedish, and uploaded the po and mo files to a child theme of GeneratePress.
Since I am new to WordPress, I am not certain about the use of specific expressions and therefor some of the translation might sound odd to the WordPress Community.

Actually there’s no need for those files anymore, you can do the translations through here: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-themes/generatepress/sv/default

Most of GP is already translated to Swedish, there’s only a handful of strings that need translating.

Then it all needs to be approved πŸ™‚

Hey Tom, I am not seeing any translations available for GeneratePress. I see them for the add-ons, but not the theme. I am using Loco Translate to see what translations are available, but it lists nothing for the theme.

WordPress.org hosts all of the theme languages packs: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-themes/generatepress

I think my point is that it’s not working. There is a problem. If you change the WP language to a language that GeneratePress does have a translation for, its not working. Just for the theme, not the add ons.

See here I changed the wordpress language to German, but anything having to do with the theme is not translating. There must be a problem with how wordpress links up the translations to generate press, the theme not the add ons. Please see for yourself

Here’s what I’m seeing when I change my language to German in “Settings > General”: http://screencast.com/t/6iWmOcTw

Wow this is very strange. I’ll test it on a fresh install right now. As you can see in my example, mine doesn’t look like that at all.

I’ll report back in a few minutes.

You might have to update your translations in “Dashboard > Updates” at the very bottom.

Tom, sorry to have taken up your time. You are indeed right.

I am about to create a video on translating, and I only read english unfortunately. So when I didn’t see a prompt for any updates, and the other plugins I had pulled in the translation fine, I though it was GP, which of course it was not πŸ™‚

So can anyone contribute to the translations for GP? I have been talking about GP a lot, and many people want to help translate it.
