What's the difference between Heading and Headline blocks?

I swear for the life of me I can't find an answer on this.

What's the difference between these two blocks?

Heading (with a bookmark type icon) and Headline (with an H icon)?

And does it make any difference SEO-wise or are both still seen as H1/H2/H3 tags?

Hi there,

The heading block is a core block from WordPress.

The headline block is a block from GenerateBlocks:
https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/headline-overview/

The two serves basically the same purpose except the Headline block from GB offers many more customization options such as Colors, Spacing Typography etc explained in the doc article linked above.

Let me know if this helps :)

Hey Leo, thanks for the clarification! :)

No problem :)

One follow-up question on this thread, please. Is there a way to add semantic HTML 5 tags in the Heading Block by default, as outlined in this guide?

Thank you!

Hi there,

i am not sure what you mean, Headings eg. h2, h3, h4, etc. do not have semantic variants.
Are you wanting WordPress to automatically determine if the next Heading should be a H2 or a H3 or whatever ?

Hi David. thanks for the quick response. I was just wondering if there is a way to add the HTML5 tags to the Heading block. I am trying to follow this guide - https://israelgaudette.com/semantic-html5-tags-for-seo/

I see the tags field in the Headline block but not in the Heading block. Thanks
