What is the Recommended Image Dimensions?

Hi guys,
I want to optimize my blog speed. What is the image dimensions for the GeneratePress Dev? I have tried to check but I can't see any recommendations there on what should be the dimensions.
Should it be 512x400?

The largest image size would be 1000px.
This will cover you for the Images in the landing page columns when viewed in Portrait Tablet as well as the Featured Images used in Blog and Archives.
For in post content images a maximum of 800px is required.

So in my posts if I have all my images with 800x600 they should be fine right?
