I purchase the GeneratePress premium version only because I find many articles saying Generatepress is one of the fastest themes ever. Previously, Search Console was showing moderate speed (need improvement) messages for both mobile and desktop versions with my previous theme. So, I changed to Generatepress. But now it became worse. Now it is showing poor URLs for both Mobile and Desktop versions. So can you please check my website (de-reviews.com) and help me to fix this speed problem? If not, then please help me with a refund since I purchase Generatepress premium only to improve my website speed.
Thank you.

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
Where are you seeing the poor score?
I just ran your site through GTMetrix and the result is quite good:

That’s a great score you have got from GTMetrix. However, Google Search Console is showing here a completely different score after changing my theme to Generatepress. Please check this – https://i.imgur.com/K4UaeyR.png

StaffCustomer SupportHi,
You can check the Google PSI reports on your site here:
https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=de-reviews.com%2F&tab=desktopIf we inspect the report, 80% of the issues flagged is from coming from plugins and external scripts added to the site.
These issues can be addressed by applying proper optimization to your site.
That said, consider using caching/optimization plugins. (Ex: WP Rocket, LightSpeed cache, Autoptimize, W3 Total Cache, etc).
For recommendations, consider using Autoptimize:

My site hosting replied to me as below:
“You are facing this issue owing to unused javascript/CSS and render-blocking resources. In this case, we suggest you contact the theme provider and ask them to have a look into this as that will certainly help.”
They also said that they already have a cache feature so there is no need to install any more cache plugin.
So, at least now can you look into it and solve the problem as suggested by my site hosting provider?

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperHi there,
The “Unused javascript” files are all coming from third-party sources: https://www.screencast.com/t/ilXkraEC6m
These aren’t something the theme can control.
This single font file is the theme: https://www.screencast.com/t/HVmPyr7HS
You can remove it by switching to SVG icons in “Customize > General”.
The biggest issue is the number of third-party scripts (mostly ads): https://www.screencast.com/t/1ECfxGQO
That list keeps going for a quite a bit.
Again, this isn’t something the theme can control – these are ads you’ve added to your content that will inevitably slow down your website.
Hope this helps!

OK, then I will first switch to SVG and will contact you again after some days if speed doesn’t improve. Thanks for the suggestions.
And I also see there are other options like Inline Embedding/External File and Floats/Flexbox. Do you think changing these options will also improve speed? If yes, then please suggest to me all the available options to increase a website speed even a little bit.
Thank you.

And, is there some other theme in Generatepress “Site Library” such as “Generatepress Marketer” and so on which are faster than this default theme of Generatepress?
December 2, 2020 at 12:12 pm #1564428Leo
StaffCustomer SupportI would recommend using Inline Embedding option with the Flexbox structure.
We use Autopimize to optimize our website:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/configuring-autoptimize/But your biggest issues are definitely the ads Tom mentioned.
And, is there some other theme in Generatepress “Site Library” such as “Generatepress Marketer” and so on which are faster than this default theme of Generatepress?
No – those are just templates build with GeneratePress theme and GP Premium plugin.

Thanks, I will try that and will let you know after 2-3 days if it will work or not.
However, I can’t delete those ads since those ads are the source of income.

There is still a website speed problem. So, I will check for at least 2 more days and if nothing improves, then, I want to reverse back to my old theme since my old theme was faster than Generatepress. So, can you please help me with a refund if I want to reverse back to my old theme? So far I know, we will get a refund within 30 days, right?

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
you can use the Flying Scripts plugin to Defer the loading of the Ad Scripts.

If I use Flaying Scripts, that may hurt my Ad Network Earnings, so there is a big no for that. Since my previous theme was way faster than the current Generatepress theme even without using such a plugin, so I want to switch back to my old theme. In this situation, can you please guide me on how to get a refund from Generatepress? Thank you.
December 3, 2020 at 8:00 pm #1566664Elvin
StaffCustomer SupportBefore making the final decision, have you made a comprehensive testing between the old theme and GeneratePress on which one is actually faster?
Consider doing an A/B test first to eliminate any speculation. 🙂
And if you really must do a refund requests, you can send us one through our contact page.
