Website Layout Question
5 replies · Started by Erika on November 22, 2022
Hi there,
somehow I do not exactly get what I´d like to have regarding the layout of a site.
The header should be full width including title, subtitle, menü, just like it is now.
The body should be 60% and side widgets left and right 20% each. Alltogether body full width.
Footer should also be full width.
The Blog posts should be exactly like the pages, no difference in width.
Which setting do I have wrong, because I do not get the header and the footer to full width...
Thank you! Erika
Hi Erika,
Let's handle one question at a time.
The header is already full width from what I can see:
https://www.screencast.com/t/hzRfwrpCVF0q
The left and right space is coming from the 40px padding set in the customizer:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/header-padding/
Let me know if this helps :)
Hi Leo,
if you look at the site on a wider monitor, it looks like the header and footer were not full width. I think it is because of the max-width setting in the cutomizer, but I can´t see how to change it.
Padding is ok.
Thanks, Erika
Hi Erika,
I see. Thank you for clarifying. Yes, that's limiting the Header and the Footer to a specific width: 2000px. Try manually replacing this Container Width in Appearance > Customize > Layout > Container to a Higher value you prefer.
For instance, 10000px as shown here: https://share.getcloudapp.com/OAu2wdd1
Let us know how it goes.
Hi Fernando,
good teamwork ;) and yes, nice and simple. Solved also the blog post width :)
Thanks, Erika
You're welcome Erika! :)
