Those Sites are ideally meant to be installed on fresh sites.
You can get the GeneratePress settings and CSS by completely the first step of the installer only. Simply skip the content phase of the importer.
This won’t make your site look like it 100% however. It won’t bring in any of the content, including the Page Headers.
Be sure to backup your site before making any changes.
I also have wordmith. After I installed it I lost the About Me widget on the home page. I had it before and the demo has it. How do I get it back?
It could be in the “Inactive Widgets” area in “Appearance > Widgets”.

No it’s not there unless it’s under a different topic/name? I feel like I’ve searched everything. Do I have to add a plugin? I just didn’t want to add anything else if it’s already in there.
It’s possible the importer thought the widget already existed, so it skipped importing it.
If it isn’t in there, then you should be safe to add it yourself using a text widget.
