Hello,
I’m trying to automate the latest published article as the “featured post” on my homepage.
Ideally, I’d like for this to happen every single time.
Without me having to do anything.
When a new article’s published, it’s the “featured post” on the homepage.
As soon as a newer one goes live, it’s now the new “featured post” on the homepage.
I’ve been into WP Show Posts and have fiddled around with some stuff, but can’t quite figure it out …
Is what I’m wanting to do possible without code and all of that jazz?
I’m terribly illiterate with all of this tech stuff, so hoping that’s the case!
LMK – thanks!
Warmly,
L.

Is your home page a static page or blog page?
Can you link us to your site?
Let me know π

Of course!
It’s a blog: GreenSplatter.com

January 4, 2022 at 11:57 am #2069194YingStaffCustomer SupportWell your home page is a static page π
You can create a new WP show post list name it featured post, then choose
1
for Posts per page, choose1
for columns.Once it’s set, you can paste the shortcode to the home page under the
FEATURED ARTICLE
.Go to wpsp again, edit the post list (ID:1987) that you are using for latest posts, set
1
for offset, so it will automatically remove the latest post from the posts list.Let me know if you need further assistance π

Great!
I’ll give that a whirl …
Will that do anything anywhere else on the homepage with the articles that show up?
Or, will it only affect that large, featured post at the top of the homepage?
That’s the only one I’m concerned about, if that makes sense …
What’s taking place elsewhere on the homepage is just fine.
I’ll go for this, though – LMK.
Warmly,
L.
January 4, 2022 at 12:16 pm #2069212YingStaffCustomer SupportThe settings in a WP show posts list will only effect this list, other lists or other content on the site won’t be effected.
January 5, 2022 at 10:47 am #2070301LucasYing,
Thank you for your help thus far!
From what I’ve seen, it’s ALMOST what I was wanting …
Ideally, what I’m looking for is that the latest article that’s published automatically becomes the homepage featured post.
Right now, it’s one off.
So, for example, if I publish two articles in a day, the one that’s the featured article isn’t the latest one …
It’s the one that was published right before it.
Right now, I publish two articles a day, so it’s not a huge deal.
But in a number of weeks and months, that number will increase a great deal.
If this is too complicated and can’t be fixed, not a huge deal, but I figured I’d check in with you first.
LMK – thanks again for your patience with me, Ying!
Warmly,
L.
January 5, 2022 at 6:36 pm #2070617YingStaffCustomer SupportRight now, itβs one off.
That doesn’t sound right.
Did you set the WP show post list of featured post to offset 1 as well?
If so, leave the offset blank for the featured post list.
Let me know if that’s the case π
January 6, 2022 at 10:35 am #2071467LucasYing,
It worked!
Leaving the offset blank appears to have done the trick.
Thank you!
Warmly,
L.
