[Support request] Very poor looking themes in the library …

Hello everyone,
I have to make a site for a client. This is an ebook store. I looked at the themes offered in the site library: there is none that really makes you want to use it! They are (sorry for the authors) all as ugly as each other! When will generatepress design themes that are a little more aesthetic than the pale attempts of the current library?
It’s a shame because I really like GP and the team of moderators but on the template side … uh … it’s not that at all in my opinion.

Sorry for the disappointment.

This is the first time we receive very negative feedback like this and our designers certainly don’t “try” to make ugly templates.

Do you have any examples of templates or sites you’d like to see? I can forward them to our designers for their consideration.

As I wrote, I don’t want to offend anyone. there are some very nice themes on themeforest as an example and many more sites. They are more “substantial” and less rigid than the GP theme. I’ve spoken with other webmasters about this and they agree with me in terms of design and we are well aware that GP is fast and light despite everything.

I understand and no worries – I’m one of the template contributors as well and I’m not offended at all 🙂
Designing is all about personal preferences and while our templates might not be your style, it’s also excellent for a lot of our users.

That being said, we are always happy to expand our library.

The description above is a bit vague for the designers as everyone has their opinion of “nice”.
Are you able to provide some specific examples which demonstrate the definition of nice, more substantial and less rigid for you?

Hi Leo,

Just go to themeforest or elsewhere and open your eyes (nothing more!) to see colorful themes, current and not rigid, with pale and cold colors whose design is reminiscent of templates from the 80’s.

I know perfectly well that a “nice” site is so for some and not necessarily for others, but there is still a limit.

Nothing more specific to tell you than that otherwise we would go into too much detail.

Hi Unfortunately I agree with ts especally for site library need improvement.

But I don’t agree with theme forest even better looking some has vulnerability and poor coding less update.

before using generatepres plus cloudflare mta-sts bla bla bla my site always attacked and hacked. I notice GP update freqently compare to themeforest so I feel safe and theme speed fantastic.

We don’t need anything very specific – just some URLs of the “nice” sites in your mind.

New subscriber, but- I like the Library very much. Def lots of good stuff.
But- they should be upgraded to new system. Legacy system should not be in there still.

“Nice” is not only a matter of personal preferences (and very vague). It results nowadays often in bloated websites that look outdated after 2 or 3 years. Most sites need an efficient and not a particulary beautiful design. And what exactly is “beautiful”? A no-nonsense and generic design is not a bad choice at all if done properly. Unfortunately, many site owners don’t unterstand the fundamentals of web “design”. A website should WORK! It’s not about using 15 fancy fonts and 20 useless images. Straightforward templates can do the job for many years without looking outdated. That’s a great plus, in my opinion.

Just my 2 cents. 🙂

I have been working on the internet since 1990! I have made over 400 sites with my business agency. I’ve listened to thousands of clients throughout my career, so I think I “know” the fundamentals of website design!
