Hi there,

Fresh install using the SIDER template. I was wondering what i could do to get the ENTIRE site to be BOXED.

The example below is one of my other sites (diff theme):
https://bizenglish.com.tr/

With SIDER having bit of a unique CSS structure, i didn't want to 'break' anything :)

I'm still curious how GP hasn't implemented a system where we could just rotate between HORIZONTAL and VERTICAL menus though.

Hi there,

I'm not sure I fully understand what you mean by BOXED.
Could you try Customizer > layout > Container, set Content Layout to One container.

If it's not you are looking for, could you specify your question?
Thanks!

If you look at the website i provided, you'll see that the 'container' has *a significant EMPTY space between the edge of your screen and the actual content of the website (INCLUDING the menu / vertical header). I tried playing with the one-container thing but the SIDER theme is not effected by it in anyway, as everything is already just in one container, it doesn't matter what you set it to.

By BOXED-WEBSITE i mean the opposite of FULL-WIDTH.

The term boxed refers to the content being centred on the screen with margins/paddings or whatever is needed to get it to remain the centre of the screen in a FIXED size. If your screen were bigger, it would no stretch the content out ridiculously as a full-width website layout would.

Hi there,

The example site you provided uses Javascript to calculate the width and positioning of the sidebar/content. Although it could 'probably' done with pure CSS it would require building from the ground up as opposed to trying to retrofit Sider to do that.

I like the design so ill have a play around to see if we can come up with a Sider 2.0 for that kind of layout.

Ah I see,

Yes, i tried adding a bunch of marings + borders though CSS but all i was able to do was STRETCH out the menu, not like have it as a separate element.

I'll probably stick with another gp template for now then, until slider 2 comes out :P. The name of that other theme FYI is RT-THEME 19.

Cheers.

Its definitely a challenge :)
