I have a podcast website that uses the seriously simple podcast plugin. The plugin creates a custom podcast post type for the episodes wanted to know what display rule i would use to change the look or theme using the block theme editor?

Hi there,

What exactly are you trying to style?

The block element cannot be used to style content from a plugin if that's what you are asking.

Let me know :)

The serously simple podcast plugin creates a custom post type to import the podcast via rss. What i was hoping to achieve is let the audio player display on the podcast page along with the discription. So i was trying to create a block element that created the style to display the look i was going for.

The aim is that when someone visit the site they can click the play button and listen the podcast. So all i want to do is display the audio player on the archive page. Hopefully i am making my self clear. I saw a similar post on the site about the same thing but tried the suggestion but it didnt work out.

So is the issue here that you cannot find the CPT under the display rules?

Yes i cannot find the podcast archive page to change how the rss feed information is displayed in the display rules. Not to mention a way to use the block element to style it. that's my issue.

Hi there,

do you have the site set up ? And is there a Podcast archive page that can be seen ? If so can you share a link to it

Hi David here is the link to the page. Podcast archive page

The aim is to get the audio player on the archive page to show up similar to how a featured image at the top and the title and other information under the player.

So if you create a new Element, under the Display Rules > Location if you type in Podcast - is there no listing of any single or archives including that term?

Yes those are there.

There is a podcast and podcast archive in the display listing rule.

Is there a way to use the dynamic data to pull the meta data from the custom post type? So it has details in it like the duration, the podcast file location and so on can i pull that using dynamic data?

I have been searching but not finding the info

Looking at that pliugins wp repo screenshots theres an option called Media Player Locations - one of those is the Excerpt. What happens if that is enabled ?

Hi David I see the option and it gave me something to work with. Thanks for your patients and help

You should be able to use the GP Dynamic Content block to pull in the Excerpt ... and that should include the player. Glad to be of help!
