Hi there,
After upgrading GeneratePress" (1.4 -> 2.0).
I don't see any change on the child theme while the upgraded theme inactive.

I'm not sure what you mean?
The child theme should automatically link to the parent theme for you.
is this upgrade meant for the parent theme only?
And it's right to see the parent theme inactive while the child theme active!
Yup. Your child theme will grab the update from the parent theme.
If you can see this tab: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/general-settings-overview/ then you should be good to go.

do you suggest me to check these two boxes (Load Essentials Icons Only And Cache Dynamic CSS)?
If you aren't using any other FontAwesome icons then definitely only load the essentials needed for the theme.
And cache dynamic CSS should speed up the site as well.
