updating to v2.0

I have a couple of questions before I update to v2.0:
1) I'm a non-programmer that has stayed within the gp environment when adding css and php.
2) I'm using a child theme, and not entering anything into the parent/main v1.x theme
my questions are:
1) When I update, what if any modification to the child theme or relinking of child theme to the new v2.0 parent them will I have to do or look out for?
2) Or does the new v2.0 find the hold child theme automatically?

1) Nope your child theme should remain the same.
2) Nope it will automatically grab the new version for you.
