Updating Existing Websites with New Theme

Hi: I have several websites I want to update to a premium theme (without importing the new theme content). How do I update my website's themes without importing the child theme content--but have the same design? Is this possible?

Hi there,

That's not possible unfortunately.

You would want to do this in a staging environment.

So start a staging site, import both options and content from a site library template, then make the necessary tweaks before publishing it live.

Let me know if this helps :)

Would I be able to set up a new WP install in a subdomain, modify the theme home page, and then FTP this modified theme to be installed in the existing site?

Or I guess the other option is to install the child theme the regular way and just tweak the home page content, etc.?

The solution (the staging site method) in my initial reply is our best recommendation for your question.

The site library templates aren't child themes.

If I configure the theme in a staging site, how do I apply the same these configuration to 10 other sites? Is there an option to do that via FTP or no?

You would need to make the change in each of the 10 installs - I'm not sure if WP actually has a way to make changes across different installs.

There isn't an option to do that via FTP as far as I understand.
