Update problem with GP Premium
8 replies · Started by Mygga on May 1, 2016
Hi,
I'm using GP Premium 1.2.81, GP version is 1.3.29, updated today.
Now it isn't any longer possible to edit posts in the frontend. I have to go to the administration menu and start the editor in the backend. The "edit"-link has gone.
Can anyone tell me what has gone wrong and how to fix it?
Thanks,
Michaele
Hi there,
I decided to remove that link as it's a bit redundant with the "Edit Page" link in the admin bar.
Are you not using the admin bar?
For anyone wanting to add the edit link back, this function should do it: https://gist.github.com/generatepress/4066aa4012787550511092e1fe188014
Adding PHP: https://generatepress.com/knowledgebase/adding-php-functions/
Thanks so much for the quick reply. The link is already successfully reinstalled!
I see now why you took it away, but on one of our websites the admin does not see the admin bar - so the view is always as seen as students see it (it's an online course) so having the edit link is a great time saver for the admin when they spot something that needs revising.
Glad the code worked for you - I made sure it was easy enough to add back in specific cases :)
admin bar? is where?
The admin bar is a Wordpress feature, not GP.
It should be on top of your page once logged in. See first picture here: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-themes/how-to-fix-missing-admin-bar-issue-in-wordpress/
Make sure your Wordpress if up to date.
Perhaps try #1 here if it's still missing: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/debugging-tips/
ok I added the edit code via snippet. thanks. SOLVED.
You're welcome. I'll change the status of your post: https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/edit-link-has-disappeared/ to solved :)
