[Resolved] Unable to remove comments

I don’t want any comments on any posts. I can’t figure out how to block this site wide. Even unchecking the “allow comments” box on individual posts is not removing the existing comments. How do I get rid of the comments?

I did follow the instructions and it doesn’t work to remove existing comments on individual posts. I ended up emptying the code from the comments.php file to remove comments.
