I have recently encountered error messages when I create new posts or try to edit an existing post on my site using GenerateBlocks. This only occurred part way through a post and keeps coming up with the message - “Updating failed. Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this post”.

If I reactive the Classic Editor plugin I can create classic style posts but this is not the format I work with so I need to get GenerateBlocks up and running again.

Thoughts please?

Hi there,

first thing to try is logging in and try to edit/updated a post in a Private/Incognito browser.
This will eliminate any potential issue with the browser cookies/cache/localStorage.

If that is the issue then clearing the browser cookies may be the fix.

If thats not the issue then check for Plugin conflicts by temporarily disabling all other plugins and try again.

Thanks David.

I’ve just tried private browsing (Safari) and Incognito (Chrome) with no luck. I also cleared the cache, cookies, history in regular mode and retired as well and still no luck.

Before I temporarily disable the other plugins, will this throw out my earlier posts once I reactivate them - formatting, info etc.? Tech is not my thing so I just don’t want to create another problem. When you say ‘conflicts’, how will that become apparent to me?

Thanks again.

No - all the plugin settings should be restored once they are reactivated.

You can always do this on a staging site.

Thanks Leo. So the last part of my question - how will I tell where or what the conflict is? I haven’t downloaded any new plug-ins for several months so this is a recent issue only.

If you disable all plugins and the issue is gone, that means one of them is causing the issue.

Then you can activate them one at a time, check if the issue occurs.

I would leave the cache plugins remain deactivated until all the other plugins are activated.

Let me know if this helps :)
