Unable to change menu colors: GP Pro: Mellow Theme

Hi there
I am unable to change menu colors. I am using GP Pro (just purchased) with Mellow Theme imported. The colors module is activated. I have cleared the cache and deactivated other plugins.
When I click on "customise / colors / primary menu" and change the colours nothing happens. The same is true of the header colors. I am able to change menu font size etc, just not the colors.
Any ideas?

The Mellow Menu is set as the Main menu, I have deleted the pre-existing menu so there is only 1 menu in place. I have deactivated and reactivate4d the colors module.

Mellow is using a merged header element throughout the site so the navigation colors are set specifically inside the elements.
Go to Appearance > Elements and edit all three heros:

Thank you - got it. I have de-selected the checkbox in the 3 elements so I can control the colors centrally.
I have selected a background color for the menu and that spans the whole width of the page. How do I constrain that so it only spans the area occupied by the menu and / or remove the white line underneath the menu?
