Unable to activate GP Child theme

I am using GP on a new site, and after a fresh install from the wordpress repository (which acitvated just fine), I uploaded a stored GP child theme, and when I selected activate, I got a message saying something like theme already active, activation failed. I am attempting to activate the Default GP Child theme Version .1 Is it possible to use this child theme with GP?

That's strange - where did you get the child theme from?
