Both this latest version of Happy Forms and the previous version brought my site down at http://locationscore.dev with a 500 error.

The front-end kept working, but the back end was inaccessible.

As soon as I deactivated the Happy Forms plug-in the site ran again.

Then I reactivated it, and 24 hours later — same problem — error 500.

I don’t like the Happy Forms plug-in. It makes me unhappy, so I have deactivated them.

What would you suggest as an alternative that won’t slow the site down, but will make mew happy again?

    Terence.

    Hi Terence,

Unfortunately HappyForm is my usual suggestion and I’m still using it on my personal site without issues (that I’m aware of at least).

I’d recommend giving some common options like Contact Form 7, WP Forms, Ninja Forms a try and see if you like any of them.

As for speed, you can run speed tests for your site before and after using the plugin to see which of them performs better.

We don’t have the capacity to evaluate the performance of third-party plugins.

    Hope this helps 🙂

    Hi Leo,

I just tried out Fluent Forms and got the same Error 502 from the back end about 24 hours later.

So it appears it’s not the fault of any forms plugin in particular — maybe a memory leak or a scheduled command interfering.

Back to the “drawing board” (with error logging switched on).

Software — you gotta love it!

    🙂

Hope you don’t mind me butting in.
But I would like to suggest there is a checkbox to NOT install Happy Forms, as removing it and replacing it with my Form Plugin of choice is the first thing I do on a new install ?
    Regards, Dave

That would be pretty complicated unfortunately.

It will need to be done manually.

Choose the gun of choice with which to shoot yourself in the foot — appeals to my sense of humour.

Thanks Leo, yes I can see that it is not just the plugin of course, the configuration and entries on pages would require re-configuration!
    Cheers, Dave
