my host said there wasn't anything on their end that would be causing this. they offered the logfile i've attached in the private info section.
Hi there,
Just to confirm, this is for inputting the license key right?
Let me know :)
i have tried re-inputting the license key. yes.
i have three sites on our hosting account. when i wasn't seeing the typography tools on one of them, we figured out in the other thread that none of them had been updated GP Premium since 2.0.3. despite not showing that they needed updates.
i was pointed here https://docs.generatepress.com/article/403-forbidden-when-activating-license-key/
the first solution in this article worked for me on two of the sites and they updated, but for the third site, nothing seemed to work. i finally uploaded the latest zip file after my chat with dreamhost. i've included the transcript if that's helpful.
i think something's still wonky on it though because it's the only plugin on the site that doesn't have an entry on the Automatic Updates column.
Very strange, that ZIP error usually means something is up with the actual .zip download, but it looks fine on our end and was fine for the other updates.
Just to confirm, you added the Secondary API on the other two sites and then updated without any issues? Then you added the Secondary API to the third site (and it activated fine), but then the actual update process failed with that bad zip error?
It will be hard to test now that it's been manually updated, but the above might help me come up with something.
Let me know :)
yes, you are understanding correctly. they are all on the same shared hosting account.
i'm happy to provide access if that helps and of course i can let you know if anything changes the next update.
i'm leaving the secondary api function on all three, but have removed the extra error reporting bit. would it be helpful to keep that in?
thanks tom. i still love everything about your product -- and your support folks. :)
One thing you can do to test if you'd like is to install a previous version (or just change the version numbers in gp-premium.php. One at the top in the comments and one at the top of the code. That will trigger the update to show again and fetch up to date data (like the download link).
Feel free to provide temp admin login details in the Private Information area if you'd like me to do it.
Thanks!
welp, i tried setting back the plugin version today on both my staging and live sites and they then updated just fine. i have no idea what was going on. i'll let you know if it happens again. thanks. be well.
Very strange - glad it's working now.
Thanks!
