trying to edit stylesheet crashes all inbrowser instances
5 replies · Started by Gerald on February 10, 2022
When I attempt to edit the stylesheet at appearance/customize/advanced css, all instances of the browser become unresponsive in Chrome, Edge and incognito. The host increased resources and it did not help. everything is updated to the most recent version and Flywheel server cache for WP Rocket is turned off. I created a staging site and deactivated all plugins. Same result. I then switched to the 2021 theme and the issue went away. I also deleted the staging site stylesheet to eliminate that as a source of the issue. This is not happening on other sites on the same host not using GeneratePress. Access to the staging site is below.
Hi there,
Not sure if I fully understand.
Are you referring to the Additional CSS field in the customizer? If so that's a WP core feature that is unrelated to the theme.
I just tried editing it without any issues either:

I get this issue in Edge and Chrome. It get it on other GeneratePress sites. I rebotted. I deactivated all but one extension Chrome and cleared my cookies (but it still happens in Edge). I understand that you are not getting it. But I am. It goes away when I switch to another theme. Suggestions?
Hmm I don't really have other suggestions unfortunately.
Do you happen to have another device to test?
If it's a GP issue then it should happen for me as well. We haven't had any other reports on this either.
The Additional CSS field is a WP core feature so I'm not sure why it wouldn't happen on another theme.
"If it’s a GP issue then it should happen for me as well." I agree (say this to clients regularly!). I will try it on a Mac at home tonight or tomorrow morning.
Sounds good. Let us know :)
