I’m new to WP and GP and just had my existing site content migrated over from Squarespace. I want to use the Avery theme as I like the look for the homepage, posts, etc.

When downloading the theme it is advised NOT to import the demo content if my site is not new however my skipping this step I lose a lot of the design elements I was hoping to use straight away.

Was this correct to skip the demo content or if I download the demo will my existing content be formatted correctly and I just have to delete the sample demo posts, etc?

    Thanks!

    Hi Leslie,

My recommendation would be to start a staging site for your existing site, then import Avery including the demo content.

That way you make all the necessary tweaks in the staging site before you push it live.

Let me know if this helps 🙂

Will do. If I already imported and skipped the import demo- how do I go back and get it? 🙂

I assume it will fit my existing content into the site styles but I just delete the demo posts etc.

I just deleted the Avery theme in hopes of downloading it again but in the meantime I also updated my GP Premium to 2.0.

Now when I go in the library and click on the Avery theme, I can’t get to the import button because the scroll bar to the right doesn’t go down enough. It stops at Confirm Import.

The desktop, tablet and mobile view icons are over the “I Confirm” button under the Confirm Import text. If I move to the mobile view I can click “I confirm” but the menu bar does not move lower for me to click whatever step is next that will actually import the theme and now I’m stuck.

    Please advise.

    Thanks,
    Leslie

    Hi there,

    That’s strange.

What GP Premium version are you using?

Can you provide us any screenshots or screen recordings of the said behavior?

I’ve checked the UI on mobile and here’s how it looks like on my end. I’m using the latest official update, GP Premium 2.0.

    Hi!

This started happening when I downloaded the official update to 2.0.

Here is the image trying to import the theme on my desktop yesterday. I get the same thing today.

I also tried on mobile today but I still can’t scroll down to get an import button. See image.

    Appreciate your help!

    Hi there,

are you working on a small screen ? If so make sure the browser is maximised to full screen and then reduce the browser zoom until those links become accessible.

It worked on my iPad. Sorry I didn’t think to try that before bothering you. Thank you for your help!

We just patched that issue so you will be able to scroll to reach those but buttons on smaller screens – its in GPP 2.0.1. So thank you for pointing out the issue!
