[Resolved] The “Prime” site design – Why pages so narrow, by default?

I have imported the “Prime” site design from the Site Library into my WordPress 6.1.1, GeneratePress Premium 2.3, WordPress Theme 3.3 & WooCommerce 7.5 set up.

I have made no changes to the site layout myself yet.

The pages seem too narrow by default:

Single products and Static pages …
I believe the size for these has been set by a Layout Element called “900px Content Container for Single products and Static pages”. That element sets the Content Width at 900px (compared to the global Container Width (as seen in the Customiser) of 1500px.
I thought that changing the Sidebar layout in the above element might fill the space on the sides, but doing that makes the main content area even narrower!

Product category Archive ...
I believe the size for these has been set by a Layout Element called “1100px Content Container Width for Product Category Archive. That element sets the Content Width at 1100px (compared to the global Container Width (as seen in the Customiser) of 1500px.

Homepage …
This was created as a page called “Home”. The Block Editor seems to have used Full Width Containers, containing Inner Containers of a Contained Width of 1500px, and those in turn containing Shortcode items

Please can you tell me the reasons why the above page Content Widths & global Container Width are set so much narrower than Full Width?

I would like to have wider Content Widths & global Container Width for my shop site. What are the respective maximum widths would you advise/recommend?

There aren’t any reasons – it’s purely a design choice.
If you want the whole site to have the same content width then just remove those layout elements.

What are the respective maximum widths would you advise/recommend?

There aren’t any recommendations for this – it’s all about what you think looks good 🙂
