Switching to GP from another theme

In another thread I read:
> "From what I gather, if a WordPress website uses a SEO plugin like Yoast and if the SEO isn’t hardcoded into the theme, there shouldn’t be any problems switching to a new theme?"
>I would agree with this. As long as the URLs aren’t changing (themes don’t touch those), and all of the meta data is left intact (using a plugin takes care of that), you shouldn’t run into any issues.
Could you tell me what plugin would do that? I'm not using an SEO plugin at the moment. I have a 500+ page site that's been up for years, and I wouldn't want to lose any google love by switching. Or maybe it isn't something I should worry about? My site really needs an update.
Hi there,
As long as the SEO data you've entered isn't built into your theme, you should be good to go.
The only issue is when the theme adds features to add that kind of data. Then when you switch themes, the functionality is gone.
Excellent. Thank you!
You're welcome :)
