[Support request] Switching from Genesis

Hi All,

Hopefully someone else has gone through this process: I’m planning on switching from the genesis theme from Studio Press. The site has well established SEO rankings and I’m curious of the best way to handle the switch?

I’d appreciate any tips / plugins to assist with the switch.
I’m using Yoast SEO if it helps at all.

I’m loving generatepress but the thought of potentially losing all those hard earned SEO rankings it making me hesitant!

Hi there,

As far as I understand, SEO ranking is based on your URL so you shouldn’t lose the ranking if the URL didn’t change.

I would start a staging site and duplicate your existing site over, activate GP in the staging site, make the tweaks there, then push it live once it’s ready.

There should be lots of articles/resources on Google providing instructions on how to switch theme as well as it’s not a theme specific question.
