support the other way round ...

hi there,
one of the last actions of mine before 'big christmas' (yawn) is leaving behind some remarks to tom and his generatepress-theme:
i had the honour to tweak around with two other themes the last weeks (upon clients requests), both far more expensive than GP with tons of possibilities of settings and things. loaden with an immense amount of 'features' (and of course code too...) and to be honest: i've missed GP!
not only annoying to jump around and searching for settings one could have tweaked or implemented in a few minutes, making further custom changes in some cases is really a mess with these themes!!
developers creating their own way of doing things - apart from nearly every 'common' wp-guidelines, jumping around within 'interesting' folder structures etc. etc. (gp does not!)
great themes, those 'big ones' in a way, good looking (if you know how to set them up right) and heavily promoted. but no fun to work with and i even wonder how 'normal' wp-users will get along with... in the end one simple conclusion: theres (nearly) nothing you could not achieve with gp, some plugins, some tweaks, some customizing and a good editor - and without any mess!!
another downside of those 'big' themes: the code of them themes is ... yeah, big too. thousands of things being loaded that you even did not use at all. loading of site and page far beyond everything i experienced with gp - caching is strongly recommended only to get near of what gp delivers without caching 'straight of the box'.
and (big point)... when encountering issues or alike, even when asking how (or if) things possibly might be achieved with theme - from tom's side i've never ever heard things like "please try deactivating all of your plugins first and switch to 2016 theme to see if things will work then", or "sorry, we dont provide support like that", "this might be possible with some code, please ask your local developer for advice" and i never ever had to wait 3 or 5 days for an answer in gp forums!!
so as a conclusion (not that i would'nt have known before) it wont get much better than gp. and for sure not thanks to toms efforts regarding support which is really completey outstanding and compared to no other!! even if tom would suddenly double his prices - i'd stay.
i hope there wont be more customers on my side that demand their own themes the upcoming year - and even if so, i might talk to them as long as they agree to use what i am suggesting! :-)
so that leads to my 'end-of-the-year-big-big-thanks' to tom and his great theme and even more to his help!
if you were'nt half around the world, i would personally bring some coffee - together with lots of cake (and of course litte cookies too?)! :-)
thanks, tom. merry christmas to you and your family, happy days, happy new year and everything you ever wanting to wish! keep well and have a good time.
greetings from germany, cheers, and 'see' you soon.
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words! I put a lot of myself into GeneratePress, so reading stuff like this is really appreciated and helps keep me motivated.
I really hope people continue to find GP useful so I can continue to work hard on it and continue improving it (without over-bloating it).
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well! Thanks again :)
