Suggestion: adding breadcrumbs

Hi,
Your article on adding breadcrumbs mentions yet another plugin and, in this case, one of the plugins that a few people in the WP community have strong opinions about. Suffice to say, it did not work for me because I don't use Yoast; I also did not like the way Yoast breadcrumbs displayed on an older theme, back when I used to use Yoast (phew)!.
I found a more elegant solution built for Generatepress and it worked right out of the box: addisonhall's GeneratePress child theme which includes breadcrumbs. I don't know, but maybe you guys could add it as an option? I also use a childtheme and have found many of his customisations pretty neat.

it is something we have under consideration - but there are arguments for and against.
A lot of users opt for SEO plugins that provide Breadcrumbs ( you can integrate any wit GP - not just Yoast ) or a dedicated plugin like NavXT.
When we look at adding options to the Theme, we consider whether this is something that Theme should do and can it do it as well or better then a dedicated plugin. When it comes to SEO elements there are a lot of variables in play. Some users need to adapt the permalink structure, add or remove crumbs, integrate Schema/JSON-LD. As that is a common requirement - we still feel a dedicated plugin is the best option.
But we'll keep it under review.
On a dedicated plugin, I see the point since just about everyone uses a SEO plugin, and most of them offer breadcrumbs functionality. I am also not sure how important breadcrumbs are to most web admins and would have not bothered with them if ours wasn't a very competitive niche. All said, thought that child theme did a good job integrating them and would make it easier for people other users.
I am sure others will find it useful - thanks for sharing that. Addison and few other users share their works on our Facebook Group - might be worth joining to see what else is going on :)
