Suggestion about container width

Hi there!
I'm rebuilding my old site with your great GneratePress.
I'm not an expert, and I wondering if the main container width 1224px is a good size.
I would like to use this size because it fit well thousand images that I used in my old website.
Maybe it's a stupid question, but as I said I'm not an expert and I don't want to work a lot for rebuilding my site, and then discover that I made a mistake in choosin the main container width size :-)
Thank you very much.

Hi there,

good question :)
IF that size works for your layout then yes its perfectly valid.

To note, GP 3.0 on a clean install ( or if you updated to 3.0 and switched the Customizer > General > Structure to Flex ) then the Container width you set is the Exact size of the container including any container padding. So you may want to check whether your old theme did the same or did it add the Padding to the width ?

Thanks David,
I hope you will understand my poor English :-)
My intent is to use all the old pictures and avoid their automatic resize.
Also, I understand (just now- thank you) the difference between Floats and Flexbox.
At this moment I'm using "Floats".
But is there any reason to prefer Flexbox instead of Floats?
Thank you.

Flex is the newer system/the default in new installs and make things more efficient and easier to modify.

I would go with Flex if you can :)

Thank you, I'll do.
Enrico

No problem :)
