Hello all,

I am using the Marketer theme and the first widget in the sidebar has a background as expected. However, when adding a social snap widget, it produces a box that has the background and encloses the social snap widget inside of a box.

This is using the new widget editor of WordPress. It is as if the CSS is applying to this as well.

I am adding my URL in the private information.

Thanks for any assistance,

K.

Hi there,

Marketer was built with the Classic Widgets, something we may update to Block Widgets once we're happy that this new WP 5.8 features is not going to change much.

Options:

1. Disable the Block Widgets and return to classic:

https://docs.generatepress.com/article/disable-the-block-editor-in-widgets/

2. Keep the Block Widgets and replace them with Block Built content. The thing to note here is that every Block you add to a Block Widget area now occupies its own space ( urgh ). To get around that you need to Group blocks:

https://docs.generatepress.com/article/grouping-widgets/

If Block Widgets are good for you, then i would recommend using the GenerateBlocks plugin, Container Block instead of the Group Block, and then you can visually style it in the editor.

NOTE: Some plugins that generate Widgets are not fully Block Widget compatible. So beware :)

Thank you for all the options! I am not a fan of the new block widgets. I will evaluate each option.

Regards,

Kelly

Glad to be of help.
