Social Share Buttons - Novashare

Hello, I use GeneratePress, GenerateBlocks and extensively leverage WP-Show-Posts to organize my blog posts. My question is this: I just purchased Novashare and am trying to embed their "social share" buttons for each post. The Novashare buttons show up beautifully for individual blog posts, however, they vanish on any page I use WP-Show-Posts instead of the default WordPress blog. In order to try to render the Novashare Social Share Buttons in WP-Show-Posts, I created a hook show I could use the short code [novashare_inline_content]. (I used the Novashare Instructions, which specifically references GeneratePress https://novashare.io/docs/shortcode/#inline) While I was hoping to have success with the short code, the "short code" generated Novashare buttons similarly only appears in individual blog posts but vanishes where I use WP-Show-Post to display blog posts.

Do you have any ideas of what I could do to have the NovaShare buttons appear on WP-Show-Post pages?

Thank you,

Bob

Hey Fernando, I set the hook to draft last night, but have now reactivated. The hook seems to be working -- the only problem is that Novashares's social icons only appear when the individual post is displayed (https://gohydrology.org/wave/floridas-biggest-stream-2/). You'll see, clicking that post that you'll see the Novashare social icons (at the top using the inline option with the hook) and also the Twitter block. Both are Novashare products. However, when you look at the same post on the front page of my website (https://gohydrology.org) where I show the post using WP-Show-Posts, the Novashare social icons do not appear, with the odd twist that the Novashare Twitter blocks does appear. Does that help clarify?

Do you have any recommendations on how to help the social icons render when I'm showing a list of posts using WP-Show-Posts?

Thanks!

Bob

P.S. I was thinking it might have something to do with Siteground Optimizer settings. Sometimes they strip out short code. Not sure.

Hi there,

if Novashare is filtering in those share buttons ( like its obviously doing with Twitter block ) then it should display there.

Can you check with Novashare author ? He knows GP and WPSP very well :)

Hey David, Thanks for the advice. What exactly is "filtering?" BTW: Last night, I also sent help request to Novashare - but I'm still waiting to hear back. Thanks again for your tip and I'll keep you posted, Bob

filtering - so if you want to inject something into your site like a social share button, you can use Hooks. They come in two main flavours Action Hooks ( like GP Elements use ) and Filter hooks. The latter is whats Novashare will be using as its social share buttons are part of your post content. And they must have a condition that says on display them if you're viewing a single post.

Let us know how you get on!

Have you already tried Jetpack?

It's a plugin developed by the folks at wordpress, and it has several features, including share buttons.

Take a look below:
https://jetpack.com/support/sharing/

Maybe it's a good option, because it's provided by the wordpress team it has perfect integration.

Thanks Luiz,

I went in and tried Jetpack. While it did show the social share buttons directly in the blog roll (i.e. https://gohydrology.org), just like Novashare it doesn't show the social share buttons in the WP-Show-Post rendered lists of posts.

Do you have any recommendations for how to make that happen, or is it not possible with WP-Show-Post?

Thank you,

Bob

P.S. What's interesting is that Novashare's "Click to Tweet" block shows up wonderfully in the WP-Show-Post list of posts. I'm not sure why the social sharing buttons do not similarly do that.
