social media menue in navigation
4 replies · Started by pke on January 8, 2021
I try to have a social media menue (twitter inst and facebook) in my menue, but this
#41784 / https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/menu-social-icons/#post-41784
is not working - or i am not able to make it work.
So i try this plugin:
Lightweight Social Icons - its working but not tested with wp5.6
and i can not use it as i use the header widget for something else.
(but it works on Off-Canvas Menue)
Question
1. are you updating your plugin?
2. Most improtant: how do i bring the icons in my menuebar?
Example http://www.hausvorderdorf.ch (Off-Canvas Menue it works) but not in the menue with a desktop view.
Thanks

Hi there,
I would recommend to use Font Awesome plugin, after their recent update, we'll be able to use SVG icon from fontawesome website, and it only loads the icon you use.
Try to follow the steps below:
1. Install Font Awesome plugin, activate it, and enable SVG option.

2. Go to fontawesome.com find the icon you'd like to use, copy the html link.

3. Go to Appearance > Menu, add the icon as a Custom link into your menu.

Then the icon will show in the menu location you assigned to.

Let me know if it works!
thanks, it works... but i don‘t like have linked things from other website.
I hope you soon update your plugin
Lightweight Social Icons.
And maybe there is a feature you built in, so we can use it for navigation menue or on other places (gutenberg block) in our website.
Thanks
Hi, I am using a starter theme that uses this plugin: Lightweight Social Icons
This plugin has been last updated 10 months ago. I hope it will not cause any issues. Also, it would be nice to include Telegram and Signal.
@pke Ying's method is definitely the best solution right now as it uses SVG. This isn't something we will built into the theme as not everyone needs it.
@Tamal That depends on where you are using it. Can you open a new topic for your question?
Thanks!
