[Support request] Social icons in author box

Hey,

I’m following your video about how to create an author box with block element. Everything is ok, until it comes to adding the social buttons and it’s resulting in them not showing on my site.

There are two things that are different from the video.

1. When I click the dynamic data button and the choose a Dynamic link type, I don’t get an option for User meta. Instead it says author meta.
2. The option to choose a source doesn’t exist. I only have the options “Dynamic text type” “Dynamic link type” and “Meta field name”. Please see the attached image.

Hi Duncan,

Choosing Author meta as the Link Type would be the correct route.

As for the field name, you’ll need to place the field name depending on what’s it’s set by the plugin or code you’re using?

How are you specifically adding the Social Media data?

Hey thanks, for the quick reply.

I copied and pasted the field name from the relevant field in the Author profile. In the above example, the field name was “Twitter username (without @)” as written in the “Meta field name” box.

I have Yoast installed on my site if that helps.

That’s the label I believe. Try just twitter as the field name.

Hey this worked, but then I duplicated the blocked to add LinkedIn and Instagram icons and now none of them show.

I’m not seeing any Social Icon button in the Author Box, where did you place them? Can you take a screenshot of the structure on the backend?

Can you try adding just a static GB Button to test if it will appear?

Yea that worked. So I also tested adding the dynamic content to the new button and that worked too.

So problem solved I guess.
