Victor
Dear GP team,
I have an issue with smooth scroll, it’s checked and works like a champ on my desktop, and regular mobile device (Android phone), but my page is still jumping like a flee on my iPad Pro 11, independent of which type of browser I use.
My dev site is https://dev.victorvandijk.nl.Could you kindly look into that?
Thank you very much!
Kind regards from Victor van Dijk.

Hello David,
Thanks for getting back to me!
I’m iPad Pro 11, iPadOS 15.7, and have tried Safari App, DuckDuckGo App, Chrome App for iPad. A bit embarrassing perhaps, but I’m not sure how to find out their respective version numbers…
Sorry ’bout thatBest from Victor.

StaffCustomer SupportOk, i tested this on my iPad, and the smooth scroll is working.
Are you able to connect to a different network, clear the browser caches and then recheck the site ?Documentation: http://docs.generatepress.com/

Hi David,
Yes, I’ve cleared all browser caches on my iPad Pro 11 (mind you, this Operating System is named iPadOS 15.7, so quite different from ‘plain iOS’!), including Safari, but to no avail. My site works on it, but not the scrolling effect. Instead, it jumps lightning fast *straight* to the Anchors I’ve set up. And I also have connected my iPad to my mobile phone network, but with the same results.
By the way, I’m happy to read that the scrolling effect does at least work on *your* iPad! ๐

StaffCustomer SupportHmmmm… not sure on this. I am still on iPadOS 14.x.
I did find this bug report:https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/703294
Seems in 15.4 safari they added smooth-scroll CSS support and that messed with the scroll-to-top JS that we use in the themes back to top.
Which could be related.
Do you know anyone else with an iPad on the same OS that could test ?

….unfortunately, I don’t know of anyone with my type of iPad nor iPadOS. Maybe Mike Oliver? I could ask him for sure ๐
But what you describe could be the problem!Strange thing is, the ‘standard up-arrow’ does makes for a nice and smooth scroll-to-top event (would that then be CSS driven?), wheras my anchored links do not (using GP’s smooth-scrolling). 2B sure, I do not just mean a ‘scroll to top’, but a menu driven scroll to a header on my single scrolling (just not working on my iPad) page.
Thank you for your efforts!

….I just asked Mike in his great Community, of which I happen to be a member.

Hi Victor,
How did it go with Mike?
I tested your site from my end on a iPad Pro 12.9 2018 v15.5 on Safari, and the smooth scroll seem to be working for anchored links and the back-to-top button.

Hi Fernando,
Mike had the same results as you, smooth scrolling working perfectly fine on his son’s iPad!
I’m on version 15.7….Is there a way to reset ALL iPad cache in one go? I’m starting to feel baffled….
Thanks for your great help!

I see. That’s odd. I don’t think there a way to reset all in one go.
I found this however which might be helpful: https://www.avast.com/c-clear-cache-cookies-ipad#:~:text=You%20can%20clear%20your%20iPad,iPad%20should%20run%20more%20smoothly.

….I didn’t have iPad Firefox installed at all, so I did a brand new install, and with the same disheartening results!
Jumps around like a flea, no smooth scroll except for the up arrow button!October 18, 2022 at 7:52 pm #2378227Victor
I just video recorded my iPad screen, is there a way to share that with you?

Hi Victor,
You can probably add it through Google Drive or DropBox then provide the link to the specific file.
You may use the Private Information field when sharing the link: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-the-premium-support-forum/#private-information
I created a test smooth scroll button on my test site. Can you try clicking that on your IPad to test? This is the link: https://fazarcon.pluginsupportwp.com/400028-2/
