Hello!

My site has recently slowed to a grinding halt. The time to first byte is 73 seconds (full seconds, not ms!). I inquired with my host about it, and they stated that I should check with the theme developer, because "the
theme is having issues loading" the plugin modern-events-calendar-lite and "the loading time is being added to the theme instead of the plugin."

My host's full response to my inquiry about site slowness:

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The site is going over the RAM limits at the moment.

The issue is the plugin modern-events-calendar-lite. It looks like the
theme is having issues loading this plugin. I made some tests with
https://webpagetest.org/ and these are the results:-

with the plugin

without the plugin

I'd recommend you to check with your theme developer since the loading
time is being added to the theme instead of the plugins:

The site used to run fine until very recently, and nothing has changed except a general update to WordPress 5.6.1.

I understand you can't design your theme to work with all plugins, but because the host recommended to check with the theme developer, here I am.

Forgive my ignorance, but can the wait time be added to the plugin, and not the entire site?

Most sincerely appreciative of any help or advice with this issue.

Hi Ethan,

Have you checked the support team of modern-events-calendar-lite plugin first?

The theme itself doesn't load the plugin - the plugin is loaded by WordPress.

I'd assume you see the same loading issue when using a Twenty series WP theme as well?

Nah, I came here first because of my host's response to my customer support request. I was nervous to apply another theme because I had spent so much time customizing GeneratePress, but I went for it, and you're right, it slows even on Twenty Twenty-One.

Another WIN for GeneratePress and your support (thank you!) and another let down by this plugin (this is shockingly not the first issue I've encountered - and based on previous experience, pursuing the support team will be useless).

THANK YOU!

No problem :)
