I’m working with the ‘Slideout’ template from the site library as I was mainly looking to see if you had implemented a vertical menu using GP. So far I really like it but I have a few questions:
1. Do you have any documentation regarding it’s use? I’ve been trying to figurate out all the different menus and where they are placed on both the main navigation and off-canvas panel.
2. Do I have that right? The ‘collapsed’ vertical menu is basically the main navigation ‘flexed’ as a column? And the fly-out menu panel is the off-canvas menu?
3. Is it possible to use a standard menu in the ‘collapsed’ location and just show the icons? I tried that but with no luck. It appears the social icons are custom links and they work as expected but a standard menu item will not ONLY show the icon and the label. I did notice that it used the menu icons plug-in from Themeisle which has an option to hide the label but that seems to have no effect.
4. Can that vertical menu set up be copied (along with the CSS) to an element so that it only displays on the pages of my choosing? I only want that vertical menu to display on protected custom post type pages.
What I ultimately would like to do is use a WP menu in both the main navigation and the off-canvas panel. I only want to display the icons of the menu items in the ‘collapsed’ state and the text-labeled items in the ‘open’ state.
Hope that makes sense. Thanks!
