I can change the font size in mobile but desktop size won't change, although the size number increases from typography -> header

Can you link us to the site in question?
Note: If you're using Elementor for your contents, it makes sense why customizer's typography settings don't work as Elementor's styling wins in precedence over the theme. You'll have to do the font size change within Elementor if this is the case.
