Site Identity not visible

I just added a meta tag for site verification to the home page and my site identity is now missing. It is gone even when I remove the meta tag. In customization it it set to be visible. What do you suggest.

Where did you add the code? Maybe try wp_head in GP Hooks?
The site is not working for me.
