Site icon not showing in mobile mode

Hello
The site icon on my website is not displaying in mobile search and I'm looking for some help to rectify this.
It displays on desktop mode, but on mobile it displays the WordPress icon / favicon.
I've tried deleting the existing site icon and uploading a fresh one but it still doesn't display.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Hi Duncan,
Site Icon/favicon compatibility for mobile devices are relatively unsupported for some formats. The most supported format is PNG.
See this for reference: https://caniuse.com/?search=favicon
To reiterate, many mobile browsers still lack support for certain favicon formats. Can you try using a PNG site icon as this has the most support for mobile browsers?
Hope this helps! Kindly let us know how it goes. :)
Hi there
I'm having the same problem. I'm using a PNG image for my site logo, retina logo and site icon (which is what the WP backend editor calls it in the "Site Identity" section.)
My site is loosely based upon and built from the "Mason" theme
https://gpsites.co/mason/wp-content/uploads/sites/72/logomark-mason.svg
Although I have deleted the Mason logo in my media library, and i Have uploaded both PNG and SVG versions of my logo to the media library and to the site identify section. the Mason logo is still appearing on mobile.
Also when viewing my site on the desktop

When I hit CTRL + (to zoom in), once I get to about 175% the logo switches from my sailboat logo back to the Mason logo.
Any thoughts?
Thank you!!
Monica
Hi Monica,
To clarify, in Appearance > Customize > Layout > Header, is the Mobile Header turned on?
If so, can you try changing the logo there?
Kindly let us know.
That did it! Thank you!
You’re welcome Monica!
