Site Header Element with Slider3

Hi! I'm playing with Smart Slider3 and trying to use it on the homepage of the site at the link below as a header. I've created an element and added the slider's shortcode which works but I can't figure out how to get the text to overlay on the slider. It bumps the slider down if placed before the slider shortcode OR just appears after the slider as currently showing if placed after the shortcode in the element page hero editor.

How can I get this implemented?
