Simple Mega Menu - can't add a class to parent item

Hi,
I am trying to build a Simple Mega Menu following this article:

I don't have the option to add a class to a parent item. Can you please help me?
Hi there,
in Appearance > Menus, open the Screen Options ( tab in top right hand corner ) and enable the CSS Classes field.
