Simple headline list

Hi,
I often have short length news items that would benefit from a simple headline adding to the site rather than a full article with a header image. Can you give me a steer as to the best way forward to add this to my site?. I'm thinking perhaps a separate 'headlines' page or a block within the front page might be Thebes way forward. This sort of thing could be similar to the old 'blogroll' we used to see before sites became full of images.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

That's right. I am using the Volume site at the moment so perhaps I should add a list block as the first blog post?
Ok just to make sure, you want to turn the home page in the linked page to only show the title of each post right?
I was thinking that a list of recent news items with links to those that were a whole page, perhaps keeping the blog and images as they are or under the list block. Now thinking more about it I probably need to rethink and perhaps select a different site from the library to one that will allow me to add the list block on the front page.
You can add a list block to any of the templates in the site library.
Are you going to manually update this list block?
Yes, a manual list as not all headlines will have a related blogpost.
In that case, I would recommend using the headline blocks from GenerateBlocks:
