Sidebar option in single page does not work

I want to use the sidebar option but only for a few pages, not all of them. Although, I can only use the general option to add a sidebar but when I want to set this up for just one single page, the setting is going back to the global layout setting. How can I fix this?

If the options aren’t saving, the problem is most likely that the page used to have a page template with an old theme. Now that the theme has changed, and the page template no longer exists, WordPress is ignoring the saved values.

To verify this, try creating a new page and selecting the option. If it saves, that’s your problem.

The solution is to create a new page that’s identical to your homepage, but a “fresh start”. Then delete the old homepage.

Let me know if this helps,
Tom

Were you able to resolve this?

Oh, I had the same problem. There are other simpler solution - just change page template by using "Quick Edit" :)

Ha! I thought that only showed up when you had a page template in your theme.

Thanks for pointing that out!
