sidebar not working when i use sections

when I attempt to use sections on a new page it automatically removes the sidebar. I have the sidebar setting set for content/sidebar in the customizer and on the page as well but i cant see the sidebar unless I disable sections and I want to be able to use those on each page so I am at a loss what to do.
