Sidebar, left and right coulumns fill inner content

so we have this site the i tried a few css tricks but the sidebars do not from top to bottom footer, 100% height to as we are adding grey/ white/ grey color to the sidebar and inner content white. should not the sidebar fill the entire column to the footer? trying to add background to the sidebars.
