Comments are actually handled by WordPress.

Thanks for your reply, not sure if thats the case though, it appears that comments are disabled in GP when sections are used.

I have the "code snippets" plugin installed, could you please explain where i need to add the php code. Following on from which adding the shortcode: [dt_get_comments_template] within a section on a post should enable comments?

The PHP code would be added using the Code Snippets plugin. Simply add a new snippet, add the code and save.

Then you can place that shortcode wherever you like and the comments area should show up :)
