It depends on the coding in the plugin. Code is code, so adding it as a plugin vs custom code doesn't make a difference if it's the same code.

Bringing the topic alive. Has there been any development on bringing the author bio to single post without using a plugin?

Hi Sami, i am unsure that Tom has any plans to integrate this, i think the consensus was as this is content related it is more plugin then theme territory.

I understand but I would argue that using any additional plugins is a security risk and should be avoided.

I would also argue that the bio section is built in feature in WordPress so it is more theme related than plugin related feature. Ideal solution would be that there is a selection in Blog premium blogin with show / hide options for the bio.
