Shortcode for year in GP Element

Hello, I noticed in one of Mike Oliver's Gutenberg themes, he used a GP element to create the footer.
But the default shortcode for date in footer -- %current_year% -- doesn't work in GP element.
Is there another way to generate the year dynamically in a GP element?
