Settings / General: Membership - Anyone can register (turned on)

Hi Leo, David, and Tom. I hope you three are doing OK during these strange times.
I'm using your Exhibit child theme if this matters.
I turned on "Anyone can register" recently, and naturally the Spam registrations spiked. I get this. What I don't get is 2 of these spammers posted a post each, DESPITE having "Subscriber" as the "New User Default Role"
Now that was weird.
I quickly removed the 2 posts and the 2 spammers.
Does anyone know why a "Subscriber" was able to post?
Thanks
Al Guevara
Hi there,
Not sure if I fully understand.
Maybe the Users must be registered and logged in to comment is the setting you are looking for?

This is all handled by WordPress.
No, the user posted an actual POST, which I deleted. I'm asking why someone whos user roll is “Subscriber” was able to pub a post?
Hi there,
thats odd - the only way that would be possible is if they had a high role level or they found an exploit in the site and effectively 'hacked' into the site.
Should I ask siteground DAVID?
Wait that's a dumb question.
Have you solved this?
